Where does all this money come from? Is someone just going to dump thousands of dollars on my doorstep tomorrow morning? What's the catch? Where do I start?

I'm going to provide an answer to these questions in an effort to help people with a genuine interest to get started on their way to financial independance. It's important to mention here that you cannot expect to get something for nothing. This age old truth still holds true even in the modern digital world and patience is still a virtue to be excercised. You will have to put in a lot of effort at the beginning if you want to put together a risk-free internet business until you understand how everything works. If you have no experience with computers or are lacking in knowledge of how the internet works, you've got some homework to do before you can make online revenue. Lazy people will never get ahead in life! Don't let anyone sell you that you can make money effortlessly! But it IS true that it has never been easier or cheaper to develop a business with so many possibilities and such a low risk factor. Once you get the ball rolling, the system basically runs on autopilot, then you can afford be lazy!

The reason you are reading this is probably because, like millions of other people in your very situation, you are on a tight budget and you're looking for a way to make that extra income you've always wanted. You have some dreams you want to fulfil, but no money to fulfil them with.

When someone's dreams come true, a wonderful thing happens: they feel happier because a sense of achievement overwhelms them and this fills them with the energy they need to move on to the next goal. They become a better person, they treat their family and friends better; and most importantly, they no longer fear that trip to the mailbox only to find more bills that they're having a hard time paying and that depressing feeling that they are only living for the sake of paying them. Sucessful people on the internet are making their money mainly through something called 'Affiliate Marketing'.

Affiliate marketing works like this. You are the publisher of a blog or website and in that site you refer people to someone else's product and convince them to buy it. In this way you are an affiliate promoter of that product. For each referred customer who actually buys the product, you get a percentage of the sale. For example: if an e-Book on how to lose weght costs the customer $45 and your cut is 50%, after other third party commissions are paid, you will earn about $20 for that one sale -how's that for making online revenue! Well, that's the easy part to understand, now; What's the catch? You are going to encounter some problems right away, namely:

1 How do I get a blog or website up and running?

2 Where can I get the products to sell?

3 How do I get the site in front of potential customer's faces to make the referral which leads to the sale?

4 What is the cost to get the ball rolling?

As I mentioned earlier, you are probably on a tight budget, so you need to get results as quickly and economically as possible. Once you've made a little money for yourself, you can reinvest. You can perfect (tweak) your sites and make new ones to be able to earn more and more profits.

If money is no object, just spend about $1,000 or $2,000 plus and hire someone to do it for you! What did you say? ...oh, you don't have that kind of money lying around? Then, I guess it's time to START DOING SOME HOMEWORK!

Step 1

There is plenty of FREE INFORMATION available for you on the net, and one of your priorities is to brush up on terms like: PR (page rank), SEO (search engine optomization), CPC (cost per click), PPC (pay per click), and many, many more. The first step you need to take is to click a good glossary into your favourites list. You don't need to study it from top to bottom, it is a reference you will certainly need to be able to grasp what the 'internet savvy' are talking about. Try one of these, for example:

Step 2

You will also need to know a little about HTML. All blogs and websites are written in this code. As mentioned above with the glossary idea, you don't have to know everything about this code as it can get quite complicated, but it does help to at least cover some basics in case you need to edit something and can't find another way of doing it other than opening up the HTML editor. Step 3

START BLOGGING! Blog is short for 'weblog' and it's free to do and a good place to start to create your online money making business. A blog has similar characteristics to a website in that you can get Adsense and promote products in it.

First, think about a topic you would like to write about. Make sure it's one that you really know about so you can be of great help to those surfers who come to your sight for a reference, then go to blogger.com, sign up, prepare it, publish it, and that's it! It's very important for you to see what your competition is up to; i.e. what elements they use in their sites to make them attractive to web surfers, what makes them get a good page rank, i.e. why they're on the first page in a search for the keywords or phrases you are thinking of using, and how they go about referring their products to potential buyers. There is software available to do this like the 'Web Analytics Spider' and 'Keyword Elite' which are both advertised in this site, but for now you probably can't spend too much money. Do a search for the keyword phrases (on Google for example) that you intend to use and take notes while visiting the top 10 sites that come up. You can even save the pages that interest you the most and analyse their HTML code for ideas that you can implement in your own site.

It's also very important to optomize your blog for search engines to get what is known as 'traffic', i.e. people who visit your blog to read what you have to say (and sell). This is the difficult part and the reason why I recommend blogging and getting good at it before moving on to creating websites which will be costing you at least $100 a year for domain registry, hosting, and maybe even an Adwords campaign (that can get quite expensive if you don't know what you're doing), and if you're not able to get traffic, you'll be loosing money. Also, the skills you learn from blogging will be necessary for when you get into creating 'full fledged' websites. Write as many blogs as you can and, if their topics are related, link them up with each other. Link to related blogs, link to your website (if you have one), have blogs and websites link back to yours. A good piece of advice to follow is to make your keyword phrases longer than two words, this way you won't be competing for generic words and phrases that everyone has thought of and is competing for. This will also contribute to getting you a more 'targeted traffic', i.e. people who are looking specifically for what you have on your site and are more likely to buy what you are selling.

How can you make money? One way is with Google Adsense, of course; just like the ads you can see on this blog. Put these ads on your site and every time someone clicks on one, you'll get paid anywhere from about 0.05 to 0.50 cents or even more! Although it's very tempting, don't click on your own ads, Google will know and you will be penalized! Another idea, the most lucrative one, is to affiliate yourself to some products and/or services and promote them in your blog. Where can you get the products to promote? Write an article related to your blog with a reference to it in the resource box and publish it in as many article sites as you can. This will increase the number of links back to your site and help to get it ranked better in search engines. Remember, if you're not on the first 3 pages in a search for your main keyword phrase, you won't get any traffic. Without traffic, you can't expect to make any money. This is one way to let people know your site exists and a very important step to take on your 'Quest for Online Riches'.
